HAMPTON, NH; JULY 17, 2002 - Unitil Corporation (AMEX:UTL) today announced that it was added as a member of the Russell 3000â Index on June 28 when Frank Russell Company reconstituted its family of U.S. indexes. Membership in the Russell 3000, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in either the small-cap Russell 2000Ò Index or large-cap Russell 1000Ò Index as well as related style indexes.
"We are pleased to achieve a market capitalization that allows inclusion in the listing of America's largest 3,000 companies," said Robert G. About $250 billion is invested in index funds based on Russell's indexes and investment managers who oversee these funds purchase shares of member stocks according to that company's weighting in the particular index.
